Is your county on the list?
Highest-income counties in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mine definitely isn't!

Mine isn't. But CT only has 6 counties and 3 of them are on the list! Fairfield, Litchfield, and Middlesex. I live in New LOndon.

Mine's not, but my aunt's is....number 45 on the highest median household income list, fort bend county, tx.
We looked at buying there, but couldn't afford to. Of course, my aunt is single, child free, and makes well over $100K a year....so that average does sound about right for area, for sure!

We're #10 on the highest median household income list. I knew we'd be pretty high up there - this is a pretty high income area (DC Metro Area) - 3 counties in Northern Virginia and one in Maryland in the top 10 and another in Maryland in the top 15. Sure shows in the housing prices too.

Not mine but our neighboring county is
51 King County, Washington $29,521 100 highest-income counties by per capita income
33 King County, Washington $44,437 50 highest-income counties by personal per capita income

In Washington counties ranked by per capita income
mine is #11 inthe state and #449 In the US.
There are big reasons for the 400 rank drop in neighboring counties and the big reason is we are a militarty community with really only one big city. Its nice to see we are at least making the median income for our area though and thats on one income. Still we have a lot of commuters into Seattle

We're in Fairfield County, number 5 on the list. Unfortunately, even though it's rated highly for salary, it's also rated highly for cost of living. For example, we have the highest electrical rates in the continental US due to a rate increase last year. Our property taxes are also astronomical (close to $10,000 per year for a 1200 sq. ft. ranch on less than quarter of an acre), but our school system is sub-standard, so we have to move, homeschool, or pay for private school. Unfortunately, the median salary doesn't cover all of that
