Yeah I have a lot of friends with MORE then me. I realize that many of them are also 5-10 years older. Meaning they bought there nice homes when the market was more affordable and really they have a comparable budget to us.

I feel very fortunate to have what we have and to not be extreamly in debt. I am always seeing my SIL buying expensive stuff and no I am not Jelous I am worried that something will happen and she will loose her house.

I grew up in a "rich" neighborhood. Most of my neighbors were drs, Lawyers and engineers. My Parents are and Electrician and a Nurse who worked very hard to get to where they are. So it can be done.

I am happy with what we have right now! Yes I want some of my friends homes but I also have the other end of the spectrum too and am glad we are no longer renting

No, our "rich" friends are some of the most down to earth people we know. Most of the people we know are pretty much in the same boat, meaning we all make about the same amount, give or take. But it's funny, most of the wealthier people in our area, live and spend like they're poor. They all have gardens and can or freeze what they grow; they have husbands or sons that hunt, and they use the deer meat or give it away (to us usually); they all have older cars or trucks; and none of them put on "airs." But you have the exact opposite with the ones who want to be rich. Does that make sense?! I know what I'm trying to say, it's just not coming out right! lol

The only rich friends I have are my cousins and they never make me feel bad that they have so much more than I do. I do "let" them pay for things when we are together though It works for both of us.

my best friend's dh makes 2x what my dh makes. I have to be very careful shoping with her.. and can feel very poor at times. I do know however that a lot of their spending is on credit cards, so that does help feel better at times.. mostly because I know we are cash only. The best thing though, is that my friend knows what it is like to be in our shoes.. and if she wants to do something with me, and suspects that I just don't have the $$ for it, she just volunteers to pay.. before we even leave. Case in point, I was at her house last weekend, and she asked if I wanted to go to the casino. She loves to go to have fun and destress... so she splits her normal gambling budget with me, and we split any winnings I might actually end up with.

I do almost all my spending on credit cards too. I pay the bill in full each month though. I guess if someone were shopping with me they might think I'm up to my ears in debt - not so. I get cash back for using my credit card (plus it's convenient). Hopefully, your friend is like me and paying it off in full each month - not sinking into debt.

Actually, I know that she has at least 10k on at least one card. She has mentioned that she wants to pay it off when her dh gets his next bonus... when ever that might be

I think that most of our friends are in about the same boat as we are.
Though, there are some people like my DH's boss who makes tons of money and I just enjoy seeing what she has. It gives me ideas. For example....she might have a very fancy outfit but if it is something I admire, I might try and find a cheaper version of it somewhere.

Maybe it is stylish friends that I envy. I am always looking for new ideas to decorate my home and fill my wardrobe.
