Hi everyone,

My last post went into cyberspace, so please forgive me if this is a duplicate.

I need some help with ideas for bday party goodie bags. My DD is turning 4 and will have a princess party. I scored and found beautiful princess wands on clearance for 20 cents each! So that and the usual goodie bag stuff takes care of the girls. But I can't leave the boys left out- so any cheap ideas on an equally nice toy for the boys? And what about the little siblings (as young as 1 year old) that will be coming along with their moms? Do I need to make goodie bags for them too, and if so what should I give them that's cheap, lol? Should I put their names on the invitations? HELP.

thanks!
Lisa

I always include siblings, because we have home parties and it's not any trouble. I wouldn't if you are paying per child.

One of my best party gifts was the year I found cool digital watches at the 99cent store. Spiderman for boys and Strawberry Shortcake for girls. Most 4 year olds don't look for brands (unless their parents are materialistic) so you could buy up some off-brand hot wheels at the dollar store. Boys also love bouncy balls, but I guess you should take into consideration if you want them to play with them in your house.

I hate the goody bag stuff on the party aisle - it's just junk. I'ld rather get bubbles or playdoh - something the kids can use and then toss. Also look at the dollar store for "diamond" rings - my little girls love those plastic dressup rings.

Is there a nice 99cent or dollar store in your town? Start there! Good luck!

I got stuffed animals for the small ones from the $1 area in Target. The boys you could just do matchbox cars. The children at our foster sons party loved them.

For my grandson's 1st b-day party there were a lot of older cousins there. We got bags of plastic animals from the party store. One bag of frogs, one bag of snakes & one bag of lizards. There were a lot in each bag & they were all different colors. The kids just loved them.

Bubbles, animal crackers, stickers, play jewelry, fruit snacks...for the siblings.

If you check out the birthday party ideas website, and read what some parents have done under princess parties, it may give you more boy goodie bag ideas. Matchbox cars can be done inexpensively.

Have fun!

I've done pencils, erasers, small notepads, candies, yoyo's, bugs, worms(gummy or plastic)...etc. You get the idea. Regular stand by's like bubbles, playdoh...etc. You might find summer outdoor play stuff on sale that you could put in. Hope that helps.

you can also make the playdoh. and put it in easter egg. we called them dinosaur eggs for boys. I think there is a recipe for playdoh in creative and fun thread. otherwise I could post one if you don't already have one.

I think that everyone has provided great ideas! I think the key is to try and buy things in multi packages - sometimes the dollar store will have 5 small containers of playdoh for $1.00. Also, look for the multi packs of 3 or 4 crayons. Those go great in goodie bags - and don't forget a few pieces of candy!

You could try to get some cheap crayons (24 packs) - at the back to school sales at office supply stores. Plastic animals, dinosaurs, ring lollipops(for both girls and boys), whistles, rings, or tatoos would be my suggestions. Good luck!
