designer purses. so silly to want to advertise someones label so as to let other people think you can afford an expensive purse. I think they scream insecurity.

expensive baby diapers (unless it is medically necessary-- ie: allergies, skin conditions, etc) You're only going to have to throw them away anyway so save the extra few dollars and apply it towards something else you're child/baby will need.

... boxed macaroni and cheese.

I've created a monster. DD loves the stuff and has been asking for it daily. I have gotten to the point where I'm sick of looking at it. I dread the idea of serving her the electric-orange glop. I've tried more than one organic version and, I agree, it is tasteless. I prefer to make mac-n-cheese at home with REAL cheese. It might cost a little more and take a little longer to prepare, but at least I'd feel better about serving it.

expensive purses. I work with a lady who spent $95 on one of those homemade purse companies that has a Christmas theme to it. She only uses it in December.

a vehicle that is a gas guzzler, and is too big for a family's needs but is purchased as a status symbol.

individually packaged snacks - I always buy the big bag and put them in reusable containers

Plus, I can control portion size. My kids take one or two cookies in their lunch for "dessert". The single serving bags of cookies almost all have four in them. If my 7 year old ate four cookies he wouldn't be hungry enough for his healthy stuff.

I have to comment on the designer purses, too. I love the people that go to those knock-off purse parties and buy the bags. Do they really think the bags are fooling anybody? I was invited to one once and I declined - I told the host I wasn't interested because why would I want to carry a purse that everyone KNOWS is a fake. No one in my neighborhood could afford a $500 purse, so everyone knows it's a knockoff. I would rather get a higher quality purse that is a similar style but doesn't have the fake tag at Kohl's for less money than a cheap knock-off. (and I apologize in advance to any of you who have those purses)

Yes, I've created my own little monster and currently she is going through withdraw since the night she complained about me making the REAL mac and cheese!

I agree with designer clothes and shoes for anyone who is not done growing.

I don't mind designer labels for everything else though...as long as you are getting a good deal, and shop around...sometimes the quality is better and will last longer. I figured out that if I buy a $20 purse at Target, it may last 3,4, 5 months...but if I buy a better quality designer purse, it may last two or three years. And I am not a "purse person" so I don't mind having the same one for a couple of years.
