You will be hardpressed to catch me paying solely the minimum payment on ANYTHING. You never pay anything down that way. I read that if you have a $5000 balance, and pay only the minimum payment, it will take you 19, almost 20 years to pay it off. Crazy to think people actually do this, without knowing that. I know there have been a couple times where I've only been able to pay the minimum, but it wasn't something i was happy with. Things come up, and sometimes you can't pay more, but still. A lot of people walk around not knowing how long they will actually be paying if they are paying just the minimum, it's a huge eye opener when you find out! (edited to add, unless you use the snowball method, of course! in which case, the minimum payment thing on some cards works out)
My sister just quit working at Express, and their store has a credit card. She told me one day that some guy came in to pay his Express card bill, and that the balance on the card was $10.83. He handed her a ten dollar bill. She said, "do you have 83 cents?" "no, why". Because you only owe 83 more cents and your card will be paid off. "I'll wait"....what???? Who does that? He's going to pay like 17% interest on freaking 83 cents>????/ People don't think.
