I haven't posted in a while because we just moved and its been crazy. I always value the support and encouragement I get here, and I really need it now. Bear with me this could be long! Dh got a new job in an area 3 hours away that we love, but the problem is our house has not sold. It was very important for us to stay together, so we rented a house and moved here. We have no debt other than our mortgage, so that is such a blessing. Our rent on the house is more than our mortgage because this is a more expensive area. We rented a very modest older house, nothing fancy. I am a SAHM and we homeschool so we are a one income family. Our budget with these two houses is very tight. We have enough to make it, but I'm just a little scared right now. Our money has never been this tight. We have strong faith and we feel after much prayer that this was the right move for us. When our house sells, the burden will be lifted, but until then, it's gonna be tough. We have cut our budget down to the bare neccesities to get through this. We do have a little in savings. I was just wondering if any of you have ever been through a temporary crunch like this, and how you got through it. Any advice would be great!!!

Well it sounds like to me, yall are doing a great job. You are praying your way through and cutting back. I have not been in a situation like yours, but our budget is very tight. Just stick with what you are doing. I believe times like yours can make your family stronger. Good luck with everything. I pray your old house will sell very soon. Keep us posted.

Find a Saint Joseph statue and follow the directions for selling your house. Have you ever heard of one? You can find them at a Christian book store. It sounds like you are doing all the right things. Hopefully your house will sell and things will get better. I will be thinking of you.

I feel for you. We were in a position three years ago where we carried two mortgages until our "old" house sold. It was nerve-racking not knowing how long we would have to do that. We lucked out and our house sold within 3 months. I've heard that the average house is on the market 6 months before it sells.

It helps to do everything proactive you can to move your house: make sure it's at the right price point, stage it to look at attractive as possible to potential buyers, etc. However, beyond that there's not much you can do. Keep your faith. Try the St. Joseph statue - we did! I hope that it sells quickly!

I guess the other thing that comes to mind is to try and make some easy money. I have a friend who participated in paying studies, testing things out and even had her DH donating blood plasma every week.

Good luck to you we all have tought times and you will make it through

Yu can get through this! someone's going to want your other house, just try not to stress too much over it, and make sure to find fun and free activities until it sells. Also, remember that sure you've got two mortgages right no, but you're also paying equity into two homes, so it's not 100% of a loss if it takes a little to sell!

I can sympathize with your state of mind right now. Just keep your chin up and you will get through this difficult time. Ask others to pray for you and your family during this time. I will pray for you too.

Southern Mommy,

There are lots of great incentives you can offer right now to help sell properties quicker now. Do you have a Realtor selling your home now or are you doing For Sale By Owner? If I can be of any assistance let me know. I'm a Realtor in MD but would be happy to give you some options on where to advertise, closing help suggestions, marketing, staging, home warranty, incentives, etc. In this market your home needs to stand out as THE home to buy.

I'd love to be the person to help you out of a difficult situation so you can enjoy your new home without the stress of finances. It woldn't cost you a thing and it would be my pleasure to help out another mommysaver friend.

Hugs to you and your family,
Charity

Thanks for your kind replies. The good thing is, we have a lot of equity in our home. We are using a realtor and it is being shown, so there is interest in it. I'm probably over-reacting, but its just the unknown that is a little scary. Thanks for your prayers also. That is really important to us! I know lots of you ladies have made it through even tougher times than this, and I admire and learn from you all! We really love this new area and makes it worth it!! I'll keep you posted.
