I saved myself $45 today. Yippee!

I paid off a credit card a couple of months ago and, instead of accepting the pay off amount, the card company kept tacking on additional charges - adding up to $45. Okay, I sort of understood where they were coming from but I definately felt $45 was excessive. I called and was willing to negotiate. After going back and forth with the operator, I could tell she was getting a bit fustrated. She asked me to hold for just a minute while she reviewed my account. In a couple of minutes she came back on the line and said she adjusted the account to zero. I gave her a heart-felt 'thank you'.

Yeah!

Never hurts to make a phone call. The worst they can say is 'no'.

Way to go!!!

That happened to me too. We paid off our credit card in April, so I knew I would get one more statement in MAy. I thought it would say $0, however there was the finance charge from the time I mailed it to the time they got it. When I called they were so nice and took it off for me. I bet if I would have paid it, they would have kept adding charges. Makes me sick how they operate...
