I know, I'm always posting articles ... but this one is interesting because, along with talking with WalMart and this other place I've never heard of, they're also talking to 7-11! They're saying 7-11 food sales are improving because people are waiting to the last possible minute to buy things like milk and eggs. I don't shop 7-11 (other than when my husband wants a hotdog) but I was under the impression that they were more expensive than regular grocery stores and I'm sure their quality of food is awful!

Interesting! Anyway, here is the link, tell me what you think.

I wouldn't shop @ 7-11 for eggs or milk.
Once, we had to stop while taking a trip and bought a chocolate milk from an unknown brand - at least to me.
When my ds started asking for his sippy, I noticed the exp. date was TWO months past due.

:ick:

btw - this article is really VERY disturbing...it's downright scary

We always buy milk at convenience stores! It is quite often less expensive than the grocery store (even Walmart). Of course, I am one of those that checks expiration dates all the time.

I usually do - this time I felt like a dimwit.
I guess I overlooked this for the fact that we had been traveling oh-so long and I wanted to get in and out asap. They should have had current stock @ hand anyway.
Never again...

At least you noticed BEFORE and not AFTER you gave it to him!

Wow so true. we make in the higher end of most people but we live in a pricey area. It's really hard right now. We are going to have to pat some bills late to get the kids winter coats. My husband doesn't get one even though he works part of the time out side. I wish they would do another cost of living evaluation at his company We are way way below what is even comfortable for this area. It's our fault too-we're locked into some debt repayment. We are just really hurting now

very good article. i truly think a big recession is just around the corner and if people are not careful they are going to end up in dire streights. i have noticed in the last 3 months that a trip to the grocery store is going up and up. its crazy because our pay is not going up..

I noticed here where I live that as soon as the minimum wage went up so did the grocery stores. Doesn't that offset everything?? The only thing I buy at the convenience store is milk, they're always around 40 cents or more cheaper than the grocery stores.

Do you have a consignment shop in your area? I've been getting most of my girls clothes at the local shop. I also take the clothes they've outgrown. So far, I haven't had to pay for anything because I've had a credit for my items they sold.
