Does it help you save time? What advice would you give to those who haven't made the switch yet?

We do- but only for our cell phone bill- just incase there are disputable charges. For the rest of our bills we opt to use auto pay. We have our mortgage, garbage, internet, gas and electric. I also pay my Sam's credit with an online check free site. We also opt for paperless statements- so the bills come to us in an email- we review them and when they will hit our account. It is wonderful! I wish I had done it sooner. I think in the last few years I have only written maybe 100 checks. Dh and I have been married about 7 years and I just had to reorder checks last spring- that first 500 lasted forever!
My advise to someone starting out would be to pick an easy bill- like your mortgage- since it is a fixed amount and then add from there.
My sister still gets all her bills and writes out checks every month- then mails them out. All I can think is what a waste of time and resources! Atleast she doesn't drive to the bank anymore to pay her mortgage- she used to do this up until a few months ago when she went back to work- she was paranoid that it would get lost in the mail. She is paranoid to pay online because she worries about identity theft. I think it would easier for someone to get your info out of your mailbox than online- but thats MHO.

Me!

I love it. I have mine set up to pay when I want (not auto-pay), and I keep a spreadsheet of all the bills we have. When I have the money in my account, I just go to each site, pay, and check it off in the spreadsheet.

I keep all the companies links in a folder for bookmarks, so it's easy to just click, sign in, pay, sign out, and on to the next.

I lose paper bills, so it's easy for me. The best advice is to keep track of due dates. I pay all the bills once a month, so even if something is due the 29th, it's paid around the beginning with the things due in the beginning of the month.

One of my bills - Internet I think? - gives me a tiny discount because I go "paperfree".

I keep my confirmation emails for a few months, just in case. I've never had any problems, and I've had excellent customer service over email for any issues that do pop up.

I've paid online for a few years ago - I think my electric company offered online paying back when I moved into my first place - 1999. I have yet to have any sort of identity theft or problem in that time. I do check my credit every year to check for fraud.

I don't use it through my bank. I have not looked into that. I pay my gas, electric and phone/cable/internet bill online.
I don't have it taken out automatically. We don't just have money sitting in the bank. I deposit the money, and then pay the bill. We have a payment arrangement with the electric, and I went to a paperless bill, so the electric company sends me an email every month a couple weeks before it is due. The gas bill still comes in the mail, but I go online to pay it when I have the money. Same with the comcast bill.
It helps me because I don't have to worry about money orders or having stamps. I never remember to order checks either.

i have it through my bank and love it. It saves tons of time, no writing out checks saves money on stamps. it keeps records for 18 months. Very simple to use I recommend it for those reasons alone.

I do mine through my bank. It is the best thing I have ever done. It takes like two minutes to pay my bills. If you haven't switched you should!

Ditto!! I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE online bill pay through my bank. It is so easy to use. No more stamps and no more writers cramp trying to write our return address on the envelopes.
It keeps the list of bills I have to pay every month on one screen and even notes the date when I last paid that particular account. It has made my life so much easier. No more paper please!!!!

I love bill pay.. When I get my bill I go online and set up the payment right away... even if it doesnt' need to be paid until the 2nd half of the next month. Since march (when I started using bill pay) we have had zero late payments!! Considering we would have at least one a month because we ran out of stamps or I just forgot.. this is a big deal for us!

I LOVE paying bills online! I must save at least $4.00 in stamps every month (adds up over time), plus the convenience of not having to write out checks. It takes me under 2 minutes once a week to plug in the numbers for the bills I owe--that's it!

I've been doing this for 2 years now and have never had a problem and I don't worry about identity theft, as someone upthread mentioned, I'd worry more about having mail stolen out of my box.
