Those of you that buy gifts for your spouses for various occasions, how do you manage to do it without him knowing (with a joint account)? Or how does he do it without you knowing?

Just curious. Any thoughts.

My husband doesn't handle any of the finances at all, so that's easy enough. For me, he tends to hit the ATM for cash & buys the gifts cash, so I don't see them. Or, he shops so late that I see them in the charge bill AFTER Christmas.

I pretty much take care of the finacials. WHen it comes gift buying time we always figure out a set amount we will each spend on eachother and then take that out in cash and each use cash.

I too handle all the finances. Like others have already said, we decide on about how much we are going to spend. I don't look at the CC account right before Christmas

He just charges it and I don't look too closely until after Christmas. Most of the time I have asked for something specific so it is not a big deal anyways.

I always wondered this! We don't buy each other gifts anymore really. He handles the financials so he sometimes gets me anniversary/birthday gifts, but, we don't get eachotehr anything for xmas. This year we have our little guy to buy for. So, that will be fun!!!
