I am curious about the "transcription" type jobs. How do you find them? Do you just call around to medical offices and ask if they are interested in your services?

TIA!

I've had many wahm businesses in the last 20 years.

First: Licensed home daycare. Did this for 2 years when my children were 0-2 years old. I enjoyed it for about a year, then decided it wasn't for me.

Second: Piano teacher. I've been doing this since 1987, and this was my area of study in college/grad school. Teaching from a home studio.

Third: Piano technician. I used to have a piano tuning and repair business, was very lucrative, but uncomfortable situations with private individuals/residences occurred on occasion. Safety was an issue. These days, gas prices would be an issue. I quit in 1998.

Now I have a renovated piano studio in my home and teach M-F, and am also an eBay and Amazon seller.

I currently work full-time but I am always looking for extra money. I provide advice in many different categories and get paid by the minute. One of my categories I charge $2.00 per minute and I get a lot of calls on that category. The money gets deposited in my bank account every business day and I love it.

I sell on Craigslist and Ebay as well. I think most of us do. Garage sales/ Flea Markets. Crafting and sewing.
I sell Avon as well. I have been doing it for 9 months now. I'm not rich that's for sure but it does help keep us floating in between paychecks.

I tutor regularly, and usually have between 2-4 students per week. It pays well and is very flexible!

I have also recently applied to correct exam papers from major exam organizations in my subject (math). This pays pretty well and is just a couple times per year.

First let me say this is my first post on Mommysavers, and it's different from other sites I've used so I hope this posts correctly!

I do freelance writing from home, and I love it! It's something I can do while my son (almost 15 months) is napping, or evenings/weekends (but I try to limit that in favor of family time instead).

I also teach aerobics 2-3 nights a week - added benefit of getting in shape while I get paid!

It doesn't make much money at all....but I like doing surveys. It puts a little extra change in my pocket. Sometimes it really pays off when you get a survey that pays well. Still not an extra income, but if the survey pays $3, then there's a gallon of milk
