Does anyone use vonage for their long distance?

What do you like/hate about it?

I am thinking that they will work for us as we call the UK and germany...

Thanks!

We've had vonage for almost 2 years now. We love it! There's nothing I don't like about it. I'm not exactly sure how it works for int'l calls as we don't make them. I know it's cheaper though. I definitely recommend Vonage.

Btw, if you do sign up you can put down a referral and both you and they will get free service. LMK if you need a referral and I'll give you my info.

we have had vonage for over 2 years also... I like it sometimes it has issuse working right. ( sounds like you are talking in a tin can) so if that happens I just hang up call again and it goes away. You can not use the phone during a power outtage since it needs your internet acess (the router it comes with to work) MY dh hooked ours up to our house line and if you don't do this then you just have that one phone that is plugged into the router they give you. Feel free to PM any questions. I like ours since my family is in a diffrent state so our number is one from there since you can pick it and they get to call me local since I have the free long distance.

Just want to say that we also hooked it up so that all of our phone jacks work with Vonage. Having just one phone was a concern of mine but when I learned how to bypass that I was all for it. Also, you can set it up to forward to a cell phone or any other number in case of power/internet outage.

We do use ours for long distance...not sure how much it is offhand. We even took it with us when we moved to Europe so that friends/family could still call us on our phone number and we could call them back in the states...worked out great!

We don't have ours forwarding in case of a power outage but it was a concern of mine, having no phone if there was no power, but I always have my cell in case.

We get that too. The operator told me once to not have the units too close to a wall. We've since moved them away from the walls and it's much better. Less feedback for sure.

We've had Vonage for four years now. It's awesome. My entire family is in Canada so it definitely has saved us a bunch in terms of being able to call them on a regular basis which is nice because my mom wishes she could be more apart of the boys' lives. Now she can simply by getting a daily phone call from them.

We've loved the fact that every time we move our number stays the same. However, we did decide to change it when we moved here because we were going to be here for three years and we didn't want our neighbors to pay long distance to call us!!! BUT if wanted to, you can find out if vonage has service in local areas where your friends and family live and get a number in that area, so when they call you it's NOT long distance for them! That is a nice feature too!

We like the service. We can use it when we travel and all our voice mails are recorded in an email so when we're away from home we can check our voice mail through email which is nice!

You can get a device, can't recall what it's called right off...that prioritizes the ISP to the phone when it's in use. DH put one on my MIL's vonage phone to improve the connection and it worked really well for her. I'll post it when I remember...

It was a broadband booster! Yeah! I remembered! We got the Hawking brand for MIL and it really improved the quality of her calls for her.

I LOVE my vonage phone service. I can call my parents w/out the guilt of what it is going to cost me (I live in OR, they are in WI) We also have a friend in the netherlands and it is nice to be able to call her w/out it costing a complete arm & leg.

The only thing I don't like is when we get the tincan connection. I don't really know what to do about it. We also have it set up to ring to our cell phone when our internet service isn't working.

We have had a lot of problems lately, but are pretty sure it has to do with our internet connection and not the phone. Hopefully dh will get that one figured out.
