It would definitely be losing our house!! That is my financial nightmare fear!! It could happen if one of us lost our jobs or were seriously injured so I always have nightmares about that. Although I think my family would help us out so it doesn't happen.

I think for me, it's a toss between losing our home, and identity theft. I shudder just thinking about either of them!!

A medical emergency such as one of the kids having cancer or something both expensive and emotionally draining for everybody. We would be ok because we have insurance, but it would be difficult.

Or my husband dying or being disabled to the point of not being able to work and needing fulltime care. We would be ok with life/disability insurance, I know, but the scariness of the situation and the sadness would just be horrible. So, I guess for me, my worst nightmare is a mix of emotional trauma and financial insecurity.

I know we would survive financially in both those situations as we have planned for them, but it would still be scary. Horribly scary. . .

Thanks for that, Kathryn! Happy Halloween! I think I would rather face a vampire instead of thinking about that! lol

Having someone in the household - me, hubby or DD - seriously injured or disabled to the point where we wouldn't be able to work or afford the extra medical expenses.

Mine is my husband leaving me ... we have good life insurance if he dies, but if he leaves and we're looking at supporting two households, we're sunk. If he leaves, I guess I'll just have to kill him. (just kidding ... sort of).

I saw this women on Oprah the other day living out my biggest nightmare. She was pregnant with her 4th and a SAHM when her husband who was the music pastor at their church left her for someone else. My heart just about broke for her.

(I live in Canada so we get free healthcare) ~ if we didn't this would probably be at #1.

Mine would be our business closing down. Dh works with his family in a business that is changing drastically. I worry that it won't be needed in the future.

Mine would be not having enough to pay our bills. Its like I'm paranoid whenever a bill comes because I want it paid now but with one income coming in we can only pay so much at a time. We are paying more than the minimum though which is good but it seems like forever. That and since DH is in the military I'm scared that well you know...I'm not going to think about the worst but yes that would be a nightmare that's why I don't want to think about it.

Probably the catastrophic illness thing. Even with good insurance, it's expensive. We do have disability insurance along with life insurance, but it would be the healthcare bills (not lost wages) that would be tough.

I'm going to have to go with illness. My husband losing his job, getting behind in bills, even losing our house - that you can bounce back from, usually. But illness ... you don't always get better and insurance doesn't cover everything.
