I have made my intentions to no longer work full time after this school year (I'm a teacher)to my boss. I would be elated to have my job part time (this is possible with my position), but it isn't looking likely they'll work it out for me. There is no way I can totally quit. But as of now I have no idea where I'll work. I'm wondering if I need to suck it up and just work full time. We would have an excess of around $500-750 a month if I did. If I cut to part time it's like 100-200 and if I take a lesser paying part time job we'll probably be paycheck to paycheck-hopefully with a savings cushion that we're currently working on. We'll go from paying 150/month for health insurance to 400 as well.

I am just having such mixed emotions. I love being able to spend more time with the kids, but my schedule does allow for all holidays, weekends, and summers off. Am I giving up a good thing here just to make things more difficult on us?!

The most important thing is to do something that'll make you happy. Calculate everything you pay for and make sure that with your new salary you'll be able to support what you got and maybe add for more. Maybe stay in your job a bit long and grow the savings cushion. Talk to you boss and maybe you can work out some sort of deal that will benefit you and your work.

Well, if you are finishing the year out, that should give you some time to look for a job that fits what you want.
