I would love to find a way to make some extra money. I work full time and have two kids. I don't really want to start my own business, well, I do, but that isn't really an option right now. But, I would like to earn some extra cash....I would like to find something that I could sell...maybe some type of catalog sales (Avon, etc...that sort of thing), but something different. More like gift items or home decor..something that you can actually make a few dollars with but not have to put out a lot of upfront money.

Any other ideas for extra income would be soooooooooo appreciated. I hope to hear from someone soon!!!!!!

I sold Tupperware for 4 years and drove company cars and received bonus for 3 of them.
My bounuses would range anywhere from $1000 to $2000 a month. The car payments were taken care of by Tupperware so was the insurance. I also made my commission on my sales. The money was GREAT!! You can do it as much or as little as you choose it is up to you. Go to their website unless you know of someone who sales and ask for some information.

It was some work upfront getting people to hold parties for me, but once I got my business going people would find people for me. I only quit because I had a hard pregnancy with my last child and I had to give away my customers to one of the girls in my unit. When I wanted to go back my husband talked some "sense" into me and reminded me he would be home with two little ones under 2 and a 5 year old by himself while I worked. What did he think I did all day???

Good Luck in whatever you choose.

Avon is a good place to start too. It is only 10 dollars to start. It should be easy to find someone to start up under. You can even start up online for 20 dollars.
It is not just makeup, so it is easier to market to more people.

A evening or weekend babysitting out of your house.

Wrap presents for other people.

Cook meals for someone that can't.

Deliver meals on wheels to the shut ins

Make scrap book pages for some that doesn't have the time.

Do you have any special skill or talent you could teach someone else? Were/are you good in any subjects that you think you could help someone learn, like a tutor?
I am employed full time, but I also give pitching lessons (or batting) for softball players locally in a batting cage in my backyard every week. Currently, I only have one girl I give lessons to, but that's $30 a week extra....which I use for my fun money during the week, so that I don't have to take any out of my check each week. I use it for my nails twice a month and my lunch money for when I don't bring my lunch to work. At one point I had about 4-5 coming each week, at $30 a pop, so you do the math.
If you are good at a musical instrument, teach kids how to do it, for an hour a week (or more depending on your time/work load) at a reasonable price. You can find out what others are charging by calling others who do it and asking what they charge. I found out that I'm probably one of the cheapest pitching coaches around by hearing from one girls' dad that they had gone to someone else for $50 an hour before they found me.
Anyway, HTH.

You guys have given me some great ideas to work with. I think I'm leaning more toward direct sales, something that I can set up a website as well. The first ones that I thought of were Tupperware, Avon and Pampered Chef, it's funny that those are the ones some of you mentioned. What I need to do now is decide on something that I like and also something that would be convenient to sell at work, where I spend a lot of my time. The only problem with that is I work for a Construction Management Firm and we are always on the jobsite. I have access to a lot of people every day, but they are all men....not a huge market for the ones that I mentioned above. I'm sure I would sell some to co-workers as gifts for other people, but it wouldn't be a great customer base. Do you guys know of any direct sales companies that would gear toward men as well as women? I'm open to any and all suggestions right now. Thanks again for all the great suggestions so far.

I am in a company that has one of the best marketing plans out there...which means you make the most money. It is great b/c I decide when I work and I have no minimums or quotas to reach. I am taking the month of December off and there is no penalty...I just don't make any money but that's fine with me. I would love to share more with you but I'm not sure how much info we are allowed to post on here, so PM me if you'd like to learn more. I'd love to share! This has really changed our lives and has allowed me to stay home with our kids. I can't speak anything but positive about it! I love what I do! And you will want to love whatever it is that you decide to do!

Some of you have sent me PMs about your own success and opportunities for me. I appreciate them and encourage anyone else that wants to share an opportunity of their own with me to PM me. Hopefully, I will decide what I want to do in the next few days and maybe even make some sales for Christmas!
