I am wanting to do some babysitting for some income. I do not want to do it full time, but thought what if I advertised (hung up flyers) for something like a once a month babysitting for parents to have a date night. I do not know what a reasonable fee is to charge. I am thinking it would be for a few hours, let's say 6-10-enough time for a nice dinner and a movie. I could feed the children dinner and snacks. Than we would play, watch movies, do coloring or play doh. All parents would have to provide is diapers and wipes. It could be for babies and up.
I put up a few flyers today for babysitting service for New Years Eve, so we will see how that goes.
Please let me know what all you would be willing to pay someone. Thank you!!

I pay around $10 an hour for three kids (5,3, and 1) plus I make sure I have plenty of snacks and always order pizza or get some type of takeout for dinner, which makes it even more expensive. So taking somewhere else would save money on the food but it is less convenient for me to have to take to the kids somewhere else. So anyway, I would probably pay about the same, $40 for four hours.

We have two kids and we've been paying our sitter $10 an hour for many years now. To tell you the truth, I don't know that I would take the kids somewhere for someone to watch them, I'd rather they be at home where they can go to bed etc But that's me! Everyone is different! We've been very lucky with family close by for babysitting if need be and our regular sitters are fabulous and we've been using her and her sister for years and years.

Thank you all for your replies. I was also thinking of charging $10 per hour. I do not know if I will have anyone call, but it is worth a try. I am really not out anything for trying. Thank you again!!

i have 3 babysitters

the 13 yr old comes over while im home and plays with the kids (in and outside) so i can get something done. she's awesome for when it snows or when its hot and i want to get some gardening done (i dont have a fence and live on a busy street) i pay her 3/hr to play with the kids or watch tv while they're napping.

the 14 yr old gets 5/hr - she changes diapers and will give them lunch and clean them up if i have things set out for her.

my 19 yr old gets 10/hr. she drives to me (heavenly) she is very experienced, she changes them, diapers them, gives them dessert, cleans up and puts them to bed.
i use her 2x a month and its WORTH IT!!
