My BIL works for a grocery store; he gets 50 cents off one item per day. I used to work at Walmart years ago, and though we weren't a SuperWM at the time, we got 15% off everything in the store (they had some food items like crackers, chips, pop, etc). My mom used to come after I got off shift and go shopping Now she does it with my sister (her soon-to-be ex-husband works at Walmart).

I would love to have a part-time job at Aldi's or Big Lots. Even without a discount, it would be great to see all the stuff that comes through and grab the awesome deals before everyone else snatches them up. I'd have to have some insane discipline though - I could imagine spending my paycheck before it's even cashed! LOL

I used to work at Walmart and they offered 10% off fresh fruits and veggies and also they did offer a discount on diapers. Only thing is, there is no per diem work, they require a minimum of 16 hours a week.
Good luck on your job search!

Target employees get a 10% discount, including groceries.

I worked at Meijers and Kmart, and neither offered a discount in the grocery section.

I worked at a family owned grocery store in high school and college and we could either get 10% off or double coupons. So most of the people that worked there did grocery shopping 2 times a week - once with the discount and once with all of their coupons. Since they were always there anyway, it wasn't as big of a deal to get groceries twice. I wasn't married then, so did very little food shopping.

What is a 'per diem' job? I know what a per diem on business travel is, but I never heard of that in this context.

As for a discount, don't forget to check out Costco. While I don't know if they get a discount, they do get an awesome hourly wage and, I think, benefits.

I work per diem at the nursing home. It is an on call, substitute type position.
