My older ds has been saving a set since he was younger- he has a book. Well then I started saving some in a jar- so I have another complete set up to now- but with 2 younger kids and not wanting to save yet another set- I am debating just cashing it in. I don't have a book to put them in and don't save them according to the D or P mints so I feel like it is just a waste sitting there in my jar. I also have about 10 $2 bills that I can't seem to part with. I don't know if they even make them anymore but it seems like you don't see them. Also I have a ton of bicentennial quarters and wheat pennies. Probably about $15 in bicentennial quarter alone. I just can't seem to shake my hang up about keeping these things. So what do all of you do?

We live in the city so we have to park in the meters even at home, and it's 25 cents for 15 minutes, so all of our quarters go to that. All of our other change goes into the change jar without a glance. My grandfather collects the state quarters and his "wheaties" wheat pennies...the quarters he keeps in a book, but the pennies he just throws into an old Mayo jar. He also likes any coins with mistakes or oddities about them. He loves it! I think if you enjoy collecting you should go for it - why not?

They do in fact still make $2 - just found out recently and so I got four for my kids. And the new gold dollars that are coming out, I have one of each for each of my kids. I also ask at the bank for 50 cent & Susan B. Anthony coins and save those. As for the state quarters, I bought for each of my kids a mint set for the year they were born so they each have a set of all the coins for the year they were born and the state quarters were included for those years. For my 4th, the gold dollars for this year were also included. Other state quarter we keep and probably have a set for each of them but just need to go through them and sort them out.
