Okay so I have all these baby clothes from the past 12mts that I need to sell. I tried the garage sale thing and I wasn't very successful. I was gonna list them on craigslist or ebay, but wanted to know which you thought was easier/faster selling. Or which one is less work or can I make the most profit. Any ideas or input would be helpful. Thanks.

I sold some things from the first year at a local consignment sale. Honestly it was too much effort to iron them and take them to the lady's house and pick them up for the amount of money I ended up with. Ever since then I have just donated them. I am saving the really special things and am going to have a quilt made out of them when my youngest is a little older.

How about baby gear on Craigslist? Anyone have good luck with that? I have strollers, high chairs, a bumbo seat, a baby backpack, etc. - all kinds of good stuff that I am ready to part with. Is it worth the effort or should I just donate those too?

I can tell you from experience that I have bought all my baby toys in the last 6mts on craigslist and I have searched there first for strollers, highchairs, etc. I would say those things are worth your time.

i sold tons of my dd's clothes on craigslist this year and made good money way more than i would have made on ebay after fees and shipping and it was free to post. i just put them in lots of 7-10 items took pics to post with them and offered to deliver or meet for pick up since i don't want strangers coming to my home. i sold most lots for 15 bucks and i had no problems they were snatched right up and most of the time i could do the deliveries in one day if i planned it right. i have one lady i sold some stuff to and she emailed me after and asked if i ever wanted to sell my clothes to email her pics she would love to buy them since they were all in mint condition a good price and very cute.. thats what i plan on doing with mine from now on and i always list under the baby section it gets more views than the clothing section.

I just purchased a ton of clothes on Craigslist. Transaction went really smooth. I paid her thru paypal and she shipped. But I haven't sold there yet.

CL is great for baby gear!

I've found ebay better for clothes-at least if they are gymboree or gap. Otherwise CL or donate.

I have sold baby gear on Craigslist as well as an outside playhouse, and it was both easy and profitable. I have tried my hand, several times, on eBay, and always end up thinking I should have made more of a profit. All the eBay, PayPal and shipping fees/costs take a cut, and it takes a lot of time to do, imo.

Some of my eBay auctions just ended last weekend. And while I'm happy they sold, I am now more determined to try listing kids' clothes on Craigslist. Selling lots is the way to go. There is a consignment store here, but they take a 50% cut of the sale price if you opt for a cash payment. If you opt for store credit, they only take a 30% cut.

Any way you look at it, CL is the only way no one is going to take a cut

I have had great success with the consignment sales here in my area. I find it takes less time than ebay and I have learned how to price for them to sell. I picked up very little clothes last time and a good bit of cash! I sell both my kids' clothes and it usually only takes me a few nights to hang and tag it. I always wash it before I put it in the consignment box so that all I have to do is maybe throw it in the dryer to fluff and then hang and tag. They keep 30% of your selling price, but it is worth it to me to get it out of the house and not have to get a grandmother to come stay with the kids for a yard sale. I also figure that even if my clothes sell for $1/peice on half price day, I am still making .70 which is less than I made on average at my last yard sale!!

I haven't tried Craigslist since the closest area to me is 1.5 hours away.

Good Luck!

Thanks! I think I will do Craigslist then. I guess I will sell in lots. I love all this advice.
