We went out last night! It was the annual Christmas party for dh's work, but it still counts. Before that it was back in October. Just because we have been so darn busy - no other reason.

We're blessed to live next door to my in-laws; sometimes our schedules line up so MIL has enough sleep and is willing to watch DS long enough for us to go out. Most of the time it's about once or twice a year (outside of our anniversary). More often than not its because we don't have the extra money; with DH's new job, we've decided to do SOMETHING (anything) together just him and I (even if it's going for ice cream) once a month or so. We need alone time to recharge - after all it started before Elijah and will have to continue on after all the kiddos are grown and gone, right? Last time we went out was a couple weeks ago to celebrate DH getting this new job. The next time will probably be Valentine's Day.

Last week, 11/30, we went out for my birthday, but last night we went downtown to dinner & then to the theatre to see the Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas Extravaganza! IT WAS SOOO FUN! It's my 3rd time seeing Brian Setzer - saw him w/ the Stray Cats in college 25 years ago, and then w/ his orchestra about 10 years ago, but this was the first time we saw his Christmas show. We want to go back next year. Get this - DH said we should do this more often - that we should pick a new restaurant and go out on a date every month!

It has been months since we have been on a date. We only go out (or stay in alone) when my parents keep the kids on Saturday nights. Well, my mom got really sick so she couldn't watch them. She is better now, but so busy with the holidays. I don't know when we will get to go out again.

We actually went out last Sunday to see "Dan in Real Life", BTW sooooo good, I highly recommend it! Plus, we used a fandango certificate from 2 years ago

Before that, it had been since sometime in summer. We mean to go out once a month, but dh is so busy with work, when he has some down time it's nice to just be at home together as a family. Plus, my parents love to watch ds, but it's a 30 minute drive between us, that means they have to drive home late or we have to try to transfer ds from their house late. So, it only works when we have an afternoon free.

We can't really say it's the money, there's a great "speakeasy" theatre in Oakland (where my parents live) and we can go see a movie (second run), get a beer and a pizza for about $25 in the afternoon. You can't beat that deal, plus you get to sit on sofas!

We went out in January for my husband's Christmas party. We've tried to go out since then but we don't have a babysitter. We're hoping to go out for my husband's birthday in 2weeks. Someone has been sick for the last 6 weeks.. so that is our most recent excuse.
