WOW....What a morning. I had a mandatory conference call at 9am with my work and we were informed that starting 01.15.07 they were going to be outsourcing our department to India. It's a process that they will do over the next 4mts. So I may be keeping my job until April or May, but it may be January. We do get a retention bonus of 5% of our salary to stay until they let us go, but I'm not sure if I want to wait to look for a job. We also get severents pay of 2 weeks. I am so frustrated. I work at home part-time and I do not want to have to work outside the home. I don't know what I am going to do. If I have to work out of the home I will have to work full-time to cover day care and that SUCKS!!! I am so frustrated and confused. I just pray that I can find something to do at home to provide for my family so that I can continue to be a sahm to my dd. They do have other wah positions, but they include making phone calls all day for 4-5 hrs a day and with a 1 year old I just don't see how that will work for me. Thanks for letting me vent my frustration.

That sucks! I feel bad for you. I hate that they are sending all jobs over seas. When I had my dell account we kept getting calls from India for it. One time they even called after 4:00 on Christmas Eve. The gentleman was very rude. We were just leaving to go to my mom's and he didn't even care that it was a holiday. I hope the best for you and your family and good luck finding another job.

Wow, I'm sorry. There are a lot of jobs going overseas. I don't like it.

I've heard of other moms who babysit in their homes or work at a daycare/nursery school where they can bring their own kids. I hope that helps some. Keep us posted on what happens.

That's terrible, and what a time to tell you. Didn't they learn anything from the other companies that have made this mistake? Including Amazon? The complaints went way up and customer retention went way down. Oh...wait...I get it...if they can't speak English, they don't understand the complaint anyway, they just repeat back to you what you said, like a parrot. And taught the word "no". If they would be smart and do their research, they will learn that companies are pulling their calls back to the U.S. and some are simply employing people (including SAHMs) to take calls at home.

Good luck to you. I'd be out looking for something now. There are lots of good companies needing good reps.

I am so sorry for you - this makes me so mad! I don't understand why companies really think that the savings are worth it! My DH works in IT so this is a constant concern for him! He's already lost 1 job directly to outsourcing - usually though he jumps to the next job at the first whisper of something like this! At my old job they outsourced some of the support calls to India! I got many unhappy customers calling after they did that! We didn't lose our jobs over it, but I always wondered if that was what they were working toward! It even got so bad that at one point they told us we weren't allowed to tell them where we were located... yeah, like the customers are idiots and can't tell if someone's from India or not... Grrrr!!

Anyway, sorry!
