In the past year what was your biggest financial obstacle you over came...or maybe realized you needed to work on?

Mine was savings. I NEVER paid myself first and have learned just how important it is, even if I can only manage an extra $10 to my savings, it adds up.

Looking ahead, I have a few goals for 2008 and past (I have no plans on stopping!) ...I am learning to save more and spend less and am doing my darnedest to continue on this path. I need to pay off my credit cards, I am following Dave Ramsey more closely...not quite gazelle intense but a pace that works for us.

Our biggest obstacle is saving enough money for kitchen remodel, boys' savings accounts AND our yearly financial investments. We don't like to use credit cards, so everything we do is cash only, which is why it's been such an obstacle for us. But we're getting there.

Last year was pretty much status quo for us, but in 2008 we are planning on doing a bath/kitchen remodel. That will be a stretch - but hopefully it will be money well invested!

Ours was basically running out of money after moving to a much higher cost of living area!!! I think we are on the right track now and can start paying down some of the debt we have accumulated.

We overcame every ounce of our credit card debt, furniture debt, and I'm even sad to say that those two alone came to just shy of $20K. But we did it, and we aren't looking back....on to pay off the vehicles next.

Same here. Our CC balances were declining until Sept. We plan to cut back on the food issue too, Ember 15.

This year has had a lot happen. We bought our house (though that really was 2006 but it closed on like December 26 or something like that). My husband switched jobs and I was laid off from mine. Our son was born. And everytime I turned around our car broke down. We had a lot of medical issues and a few house issues as well.

Needless to say, we have ran a little credit card debt and some medical bills. We also ran through our savings big time. Since then we have taken our savings account out of the danger zone and we're paying off the credit cards / medical bills but that is going to take some time.

I guess my goal for this year is to make smarter choices. We're looking at starting a business eventually and to do that we need to get some things in order. Not to mention it just makes good sense!
