He used to.
He has over seven electric guitars, a pretty expensive collection IMO.
It's been seven years down the road for us and he knows better now than to ask for something ridiculous.
Maybe once a year he'll get to pick something moderate out (amps) and I will too.

I let him get it. He does the majority of the bills and can see whether or not we can afford it. I spend roughly the same amount each month and he will ask me if we have some large expense coming up (such as kids sports registrations, etc)

He makes the money and I spend the majority of it so if he wants something from time to time it's fine.

Sometimes mine does but he's gotten much better than he was when we were first married. I made a wishlist in my notebook for each of us. Things are ranked in order of priority and that is how we handle them. Right now he wants a big screen tv. Well that's fine I say but first x has to be in order. Such as a certain bill being paid off, or a certain amount in savings. Then we will save up for the big item. We also rotate who's list we get off of next. It really works for us. Ideally I would put an end to all big purchases until all our debt is paid but no way he would go for that.
