In the last 3 years I have really grown to aspire to be like my grandma (my mom's mom...well- my dads mom too but my mom's mom raised me during the day). I want to stay at home and be a wife and mother.

Well, why couldn't I go back in time 10 years and tell that to 18 year old me who wanted to be a doctor? Long story short- my priorites have changed...I'm an LPN at a clinic and sure I like my job, I make 16 dollars an hour which is a dollar more than DH...but I digress. I have roughly 38 grand in debt. My loan payments are about 500 dollars a month- scary, right? Add to it that we want to buy a house (we're renting for dirt cheap because our landlords are his parents...this house isn't user friendly and not a good house for raising a family which is why we're searching).

My question is, how do I make it work? I'd love to have a nursing job that allows me to work from home, but the very essence of nursing is pretty much HANDS ON! OH how I'd love to go back in time and say "HEY!! It's ME...I'm 6 weeks with child!! Don't take that organic chemistry class!! (you're going to burn out before you even get to Physics anyhow!")

My suggestion is to make your money work for you. I know that you want to be a mother, are you pregnant now? If you are not maybe you could work overtime now in order to pay down debt so that when you baby comes student loans will not weigh down on you!!
I worked in a hospital HR and there are tons of oppertunity for part time work for LPN's even casual work.

I know that you wish you could turn back to hands of time, sometimes I wish I could of also, but just be thankful that you have some education!!!

Sit down with your husband and make a very strict budget, look theses boards over and find how many ways you can be saving.

In the Spending Less and Saving more fourm they have tips for wanting to be a SAHM as well as on this fourm(i think) read read read and maybe jump into the FTJ project and you may be suprised at how much you can save!!! and how much debt you can pay off
