I was thinking of purchasing Turbo Tax. Just wondering if any of you have tried it and how do you review it. It cost so much taking it to like H and R Block. My daughter used it last year, she thought it was great but she didn't have any dependents like we do. I would like to hear from all. Thank you.

Love it - I've used it for years with great results.

I usually do the turbo tax online through HR Block. It doesn't seem too expensive that way.
I have never looked into buying the software, I am interested to hear what others have to say.

I like Turbo Tax. Go to the irs website Internal Revenue Service . Check out the free file option. Depending on your situation there are several different tax preparers to go with. Be warned I used Turbo Tax and it tries to upsell to add extras you don't need. It will charge to do your state, but I go directly to my state's website and do my state for free there. I file 1040EZ but I did my BF's taxes and his were a 1040 with EIC/kids. If you don't qualify for the free sites check with your employer, my payroll processor had a deal with Turbo Tax that I used because I didn't qualify to do Turbo Tax through the IRS site. Otherwise you can go directly to the site. wwwturbotax.com and pay through there instead of going to the store to buy. HTH

but like idream mentioned.. don't buy the bells and wistles.. its not worth. if you need that much help with your taxes.. you should just have a HR block do it..

I am a tax accountant and before I quit working to be a SAHM I actually worked for INTUIT the company that makes Turbo Tax testing the software to make sure it always came out with the right information. I definately recommend it to anyone especially if you have a pretty simple return. It's like $20 bucks for the basic version which is what most people need and what I use every year as well. It will be so much cheaper than HRB and you can electronically file and get your return direct deposited as well without ever leaving your house.

I love turbo tax. Last year we tried H& R Tax Cut and something didn't seem right (after I had bought it of course!) so I did them on turbo tax, using the same exact numbers our refund was WAY more. I'll stick with Turbo Tax. (you can get basic for free right now on Turbotax.com)

Woah - I used to work for Intuit too! I quit when my oldest was born a little over 4 years ago!!

I didn't work with Turbo Tax though - I supported EasyACCT (the accounting program).

We've used it the last few years and been pleased. We used to have ours done, but they're pretty straight forward and I think unless you have lots of unusual deductions, etc, that you're fine with turbo tax.

Check to see if you qualify for free filing with the IRS first and with your state for free filing there as well.
