So far this year (and I know that it isn't that far into it yet) my hubby and I have not used our credit cards once! We have decided to stop using them, pay them off, and get rid of them!

So far, although the tempation was there, we have not used them once. That is saying a lot considering I am pregnant and only want burger king to eat.

It's a baby step but one wehave made together!

good for you!!! we are on year two of no charging and its working since we have alot of credit card debt.. i got the two cards with the biggest balances this week to give me 0% interest and set me up on an exact payment amount i can have them both paid off in 4 years or sooner i'm allowed to put extra on... so my next suggestion is try to get your interest lowered you might be surprised with the way the economy is going more and more places are willing to work with you..

DH and I used to be over $40,000 in debt with credit cards, personal loans and car loans. We were living paycheck to paycheck and then sometimes deciding who could go without getting payed that month. Now after 4 years of commitment we only have the mortgage on the house which we have refinanced to being a 20yr loan instead of a 30yr loan (this is going to save us paying $184,000 in interest). We are still doing it tough but now I only have to work 10hrs a week and can stay home with the kids which we are all alot happier about. It sound old fashioned and flys in the face of feminism (considering I used to be snr management) but I really enjoy being a sahm. My suggestion if you can is get a personal loan to payoff your credit cards all at once as often personal loans usually have a lower interest rate. This way your repayments can be made to make easier for you to payback and there is no temptation to use your card. We are now a cash only family (we have a rainy day savings account for emergencies which we have automatic transfers go in to of $25 a week (this works out to be at least $100 a month). We don't even notice it go out of our account anymore and we have learned to live without it.

Keep up the good work. It feels soooooo good when you are in charge of your money and not your banks.

I know fist hand how tempting it is to "just put it on the card." Before you know it, you have several thousands of dollars of cc debt, and have very little to show for it!! I just paid all of mine off, and took them all out of my wallet, except for one to have for emergencies. I've paid cash for almost all of my shopping I've done this month, or used my debit card.

Congratulations, and good for you both for being in this together!! WAY TO GO!!

I knew we had to do something when I looked at our cards statement and almost everything on there was fast food and gas. I miss my favorite fast food but if we can't pay cash then we don't go. I enjoy it more now.

If I figured everything out right we should have almost all of our debt payed off by the end of the year. That is really exciting. We'd only have the house and car left.

We are using our tax return for most of it. It may be our last one because my hubby just changed what he was claiming so we can stay out of debt. That idea came from MS! Thanks!

We still havn't used our cards!
We actually just drove 1 hour and 45 minutes to the nearest mall.... and only left with a bottle of shampoo and a box of playtex drop-ins! Not even $6 spent!

The trip wasn't as fun as when we buy more but we had to go to have our wedding rings checked for the diamond warrenty so we had to go.

It felt good to leave and know that we did well and didn't spend money that we didn't have.
