Default Close To A Depression?

i know in the depression it had something to do with the stock markets. well with the way the market is dropping and we r in a rescession is a depression close?

From what I heard on the news, a lot of changes have been made in the stock market to prevent an all out-depression occurring like back in the '30s. So recessions can still happen, but it would be all but impossible to have a full depression, due to limits on the amount of trading that can be done in a day (like if truly everyone starts selling, they shut the markets down until people stop panicking), or some such.

Me not so good with money talk. But that's what I heard on a news when talk of a recession first began.
