I have two--one for emergencies and one for Christmas. They are both ING accounts. I also have a second checking account for clothes, yearly bills, car repairs etc. We've had the emergency account since last April but just opened the other two this month. I get really excited when I think about having the money there. This is our second savings account in 12 years of marriage.

We just have one savings account. I'm going to talk to Brian about taking a chunk from our savings to put into a 16month CDl; when it matures, putting the new amount back into another CD, and so on. My/our goal is to add at least $1000 to the savings each month; if not more. However, I'll be making a withdrawl next month to pay for insurances (auto & home), and also our property taxes! It's going to be at least a $3000 withdrawl...OUCH!

It's really too bad that that isn't the norm anymore, isn't it? This is what we've always done too. It's the only way to ensure financial success, IMO. Here's an old adage to live by: Pay yourself first.

Do you use ING (or something like that?) to have all of these different accounts? I've heard that you can do that but never have.

To answer the orginal question, yes we do. We have ING accounts which are kind of a little low this year due to our changes in jobs last year. I'd like to build them back up ... but I don't this is going to be the year to do that. This is going to be a tight year for us!

One regular savings account
One for Lena (we opened it up before she was 3 months old)

And when we get our taxes back this year we are openening up a CD.

We are going to open up an emergency savings account too, and build up 6 months of pay in that too... (an idea I got from another mS member).

My husband and I each have a savings account. His is linked with our checking account so it's like our overdraft protection. Mine is tax/homeowner's insurance account, and each of our children have their own savings account.

We have a savings account. I'm thinking of starting a second account as well.
