Hi everyone! I have an opportunity to attend a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University through a local church. The cost of the kit/classes is $115.00 I was curious if anyone had a chance to attend one of these courses, and if so, is it worth my time and money? I missed the first class but I'm told that I can make it up and the course is 13 weeks long. I'd love to try it but don't want to waste the money either. TIA

I'm familiar with Dave Ramsey but haven't attended FPU. To me it's kind of like joining Weight Watchers- if you need the group support to get you going then attending would be good. Me, I'd just read his book and follow his steps on my own. But I'm not much of a joiner. Just my two cents.

My opninion is to save your money!
However, do buy or check out his books from the library. Once I read them, I was pumped up for a new mindset and way the live my financial life. Take what you need from his advice and start working your plan. He really tells you all you need to do in his books.
Just my opinion.
Also, there is a site on the internet called "Living Like No One Else" that has been set up for Dave Ramsey followers and offers additional support and a chance to connect with like-minded people.
Living Like No One Else - There's hope in your financial life!

Good luck!

My DH and just finished FPU in December. To us it was well worth the money! It was great to be with other people with the same goals and to hear everyone's stories. I always thought we had so much debt and then you meet others that are worse off or in the same boat, it was nice. Our leader was really motivational and everyone had so many tips and ideas it was great! Also with the cost of the class you get a kit that includes 2 books, the workbook, the envelope system and the whole 13 week series on CD, which is great to listen to in the car or on your ipod. I had already read all his books before we took the class and I still got so much out of it.

It was totally worth it to my husband and I. It was a great thing to do together. I did get a lot out of reading his books, but the class really helped us apply it and see the importance of it. It sounds dramatic, but I truly feel God has used Dave Ramsey to change my life.

My dh and I loved it and in fact dh got to watch part of another video last night and was "remotivated". It is much more intensive and into the nitty gritty than TMMO or his other books. I HIGHLY reccommend it. In fact, I recommend it to all of my college students (most of whom are in their 40s).
