Why are we still making them if it costs more to make them then they are worth? It seems like such a waste.

ummmm, little leary about getting rid of cash(or change). When you think about the fact that we only have enough cash to cover about 5% of the worlds transactions, I am not in a big hurry to get rid of anything. Call me crazy, but I like money I can hold and not just an amount moved back and forth in a computer.

I also saw this on 60 minutes.

Since it costs about 2 cents to make a penny- they should change it from 1 cent to 2 cents.
Makes sense to me

But there are so many good songs and poems about pennys!

You can get rid of nickles though -- I've never liked them!

I've wondered since a child what the point was of a penny. At least we might get rid of .99 sale pitches. ROUND UP FOR GOD SAKE!
