Our son is about 7 1/2 months old and I found friends and family were very generous with baby gifts. (we tried for 8 years and were finally blessed with a beautiful son through adoption). Anyhow, because we were given so much, I put some away for him to open at Christmas. I made sure these were things that came from distant friends that wouldn't be there on Christmas morning. He will only be about 10 months then, and will have no concept anyhow. We will make sure these came from Santa, so Santa will get the credit and not us.

a cristmas ornimant , a poem , a blanket. Maybe hit the dollar store and buy some rattles or something. A cheap and easy blanket- buy a yard and a half and fleece , cut 1-inch slits all the way around and tie a knot in each one. I made ten of them one year and people loved it.even adults.
