i would say cut all extra spending to start paying off stuff early or builiding up a savings. all states offer some sort of health care for children so check yours ours is called hawk-i you can either get it free or for as little as 20 bucks a month and its bluecross blueshield 80/20 so check into that.. also check with local unemployment office about re-training options ect...also have dh pound the pavement the ladies are right its easier to find a job while you have one then once your unemployed... your very lucky that you have some warning my dh was not that lucky he went to work one morning and was home by 8am...

It's great that you have been given some warning...although still not fun. We just had lay offs here a few weeks ago and no one had ANY idea until the morning it happened and they were let go that very same day.
I've realized that you just never know. The company I work for used to have lay offs about every 5 years, it's now gotten to the point where it's about every year...so I am doing EVERYTHING I possibly can now to prepare, just in case. I have not seen any signs that my particular position is in jeopardy, but like I said before you just never know, so I'm going to be prepared, just in case.
I would say get your resume out there to a ton of companies and get in major gear to find something else now. Since you have been coming to this board you are probably already way more prepared than you realize...but I would get rid of/sell or cancel anything I didn't absolutely have to have now and SAVE SAVE SAVE....

I think anyone who has a job should prepare now whether they think it will happen to them or not!
