With money it's all about the balance. Some of us focus too much on the now and don't think enough about saving for the future. Others of us focus so much on the future, that the 'here and now' gets sacrificed. Or there may be others that feel like they have a good balance. Where do you fit in?

I confess to leaning towards being more focused on saving for the future (retirement, kid's education fund, etc) and not spending enough money to have fun now. I'm working on that though. Trying to find the balance.

I like to think we have a good balance. We've always put saving for retirement at the top of our priority list. Last time we met with a financial planner we realized we can probably, if anything, ease up on it. We do a lot of "fun" stuff too (family trips, eating out, etc.) because we realize we never know how much time we have left. We're also doing some remodeling projects now because we want to enjoy our home more now, not fix it up only to sell it. I think if you budget for the practical AND the here and now, it's not so hard to achieve that balance.

I feel that we are pretty balanced, we are saving for our future and have different retirement options, but we also have some freedom in there to enjoy certain things in life.

I think we have a good balance going right now. I do tend to get frustrated thinking I'm not focusing enough on the future and trying to pay off debt, but I also have to live in the now, and I know that so I am pretty good at walking the middle ground..

I think we have a good balance. I do tend to focus on saving money but when the opportunity presents itself I have no problem spending and having fun. I keep trying to remind myself that my kids are only this little once and to take advantage of the time they still want to go on vacation and hang out with us.

From what I can tell, you are doing a great job at trying to have a balance, Kathryn! I know that has been hard for you to do, also.

I think I have a good balance, but it was not always that way. I am addicted to saving and would always plan and do that side of things, too. But, then I got sick and realized it was ok to spend some money now on fun things.
