Yes I'm admitting that I'm a shopaholic! My DH says I need a support group for it ( not in a funny way) and My friends even tell me I'm addicted. Is there such thing as a Shopping addiction and a support group for that? I know that sounds funny, but seriously. I think I inherited the shopping addiction from my Grandmother and Mother. I feel The need to shop all the time. So do they. They always have. Especially For things I don't even need and just put clutter in my home. Its worse when I'm bored at home, I feel like shopping is something to do that kills time or an instant high I guess!. Hmmmm........ Anyone else have this problem?

I can identify with you...Although I do not need to shop all the time, shopping becomes a high when I see a really good bargain. I prefer to stay at home, so being bored isn't my excuse to go shopping. I've cut all credit cards. I do not go to shops/malls often to begin with, but when I do, I couldn't leave the place without buying a thing. Not that I buy expensive stuff...I really look for bargains...I hit the clearance sections only. I told my husband once that I do not buy expensive stuff, but I buy a lot of clearance stuff...Mostly clothes and shoes (for the whole family), bags and shoes. Why pass up a good bargain?! But I have realized it is a waste to buy a shirt my son wouldn't wear or a high heel I couldn't walk with. Online shopping isn't a problem because I don't like to pay for shipping on top of the sales tax. Plus I always think I get better prices when I hit the clearance section. I have sold a lot of stuff on ebay, but I still have a lot more to dispose. It's just sad when I look at all the clothes/shoes/accessories and think that I could've bought a nicer couch or a flat screen tv or a bigger house...Or traveled instead...Or added more to my ds' college fund...Or our retirement...Or shorten the mortgage payment. I also realized that my ds can have the same problem with shopping unless I change.

It sounds like you need to identify the underlying problem and maybe replace it with somethng healthier (both for your bank account and for your relationship with your hubby). I know for me eating is my way to deal with stress, boredom, anger, etc. Instead of just dealing with the emotion I try to eat them away (thus the extra pounds I am fighting). I am trying to replace the eating with drinking a glass of water, journaling, calling a friend and venting, going for a walk or listening to music. I admit I am still new at this and it doesn't feel completely natural yet. I came to realize that I was turning to food because as a child it wasn't safe for me to in any way show emotion, so I stuffed the feelings down and didn't deal with them. It was safer to eat than to say "I am mad, sad, frustruated, etc."
