Does anyone shop for christmas year round to avoid end of the year debt? Every year I say I'm going to but never do.

Yes, I have done this in the past and you can find some really nice stuff during the year and it sure saves you having to spend alot money at the end of the yr. I don't do it so much anymore since we really don't get gifts for all the inlaws 'cause all the families have grown in size throughout the yrs. I still do look for my kids teachers and my DD gives gifts to her best friends.

I'm starting in July this year! I'm just going to make a list and do it. I usually start in Sept. and try to have it all done by Thanksgiving, but then things come up like.."Oh yeah honey..what about this person or that person." This will give me plenty of time!

I do shop all year...if I see something in March that I think would be great for my Mom for Christmas, I would definately buy it. It's not really to 'avoid' debt though. I save every week towards Christmas spending...I've been doing that since I was in college. It works really well for me. I can't imagine going into debt over Christmas. I just wouldn't do it. Period.

I shop all year year round. Personally I cannot stand the crowds at Christmas so I like to be done early.

Yes. We budget for Christmas each month, if I find something on clearance that is perfect for someone on my list I purchase it. I keep a section of my household binder for Christmas and log what I have bought and spent for each person (and where I have hidden the item). We started doing this last year and it was amazing how much lower our holiday stress level was. I am amazed that it took us 8 years of marriage to figure out that Christmas came at the same time each year and that we shouldn't be surprised by it LOL.
Also, if we are spending cash, it's pretty hard to overspend cause when it's gone it's gone.

I always start shopping Dec. 26 for the next Christmas. I keep a list of what I've purchased in my purse at all times.

I don't because if I see the person next week, I will be more than glad to hand it over to them, which obviously means more expense for this month.

I do this. Since my kids are getting older it is much harder to do so I am saving money each month and still getting something if I see it and I KNOW they will like it. We also do toys for tots so when I find a good deal on something for them I go ahead and get it and then write it down in the book I keep with all of my lists in it.
