Ok...maybe some of you have noticed this as well. Yesterday I had to pick up a few items at the grocery store. Since grocery prices are about to be raised AGAIN, the sale price on many items was what I had just been paying over the past couple months! For example, they used to sell cream of wheat for about $3.23 a box, yesterday that was the sale price, the regular price has now gone up to $3.68/box. I don't know if this kind of thing has hit your area yet, but it probably will soon!

Kroger is very tricky sometimes. I noticed that they had some yellow tags on things but instead of it being a yellow sale tag, it was a yellow "everyday savings" tag....

Back in my department manager days at WalMart our D.M. came in one time and told us, "Look around your department for those higher markup %'s and stick and 'everyday savings' sign on them and change them out every week." And he wanted us to make sure we kept those signs nice and new looking. You would be amazed how people would flock to those signs. It's like moths to a flame. You know, I've been out of retail almost 10 years and I have to watch those signs myself these days. Especially when shopping with children because I no longer have the time to look and keep track.

we see that all the time at the grocery stores we shop. there's a big yellow tag on something, and you lift it up, and it's the same as the regular price! we just think it's funny. i'm sure they make a lot of money off of people who aren't watching.

Our Kroger charges ridiculously high prices on certain items, and then has frequent "sales" where they mark these items down just a little bit. But even "on sale" these items are still overpriced.

I think I need to check out our Food Lion again...

I have a grocery store that "forgets" to change the prices of some of their sale items in their computers. I have to watch every time that they ring up correctly. It wouldn't be so bad, but it happens every week.

Just another example of why you should know your prices.

And check your receipt before you leave the store. The manager will make good on the price. Some store policies are the item is free if it rings up wrong.

Even Target does this!!! Target always has a nice and colorful Sunday add but half the items listed are their standard price. For example I was at Target yesterday and was looking at their generic diapers. They had a sale tag that said thirteen something. I lift the tag up to see the regular price and it was exactly the same. Goofy stuff.

There is a store in OUR area that does this as well, called Big Y. They very often have 'buy 1 get 2 free sales', but what they do is jack up the price of the orginal, so you are still actually paying for the 2 'free' items. Also when they do this, the raise the prices of alot of stuff in the store because most people won't go JUST for the sale items, they try to get all thier shopping done in one place and will pay the rediculous prices. that is the ONE place I try to avoid at all costs.
