Did you have a piggy bank growing up? When did you break it open?
Do your kids have one? Are they good about putting money it it? When do you think you'll let them break it open and use the money or put it in a savings account?

My kids have a Canadian change piggy bank and an American one! When family from Canada comes into town they put loonies and twoonies in it for the kids. After family vacations in Canada we put our spare change in them too!

The kids always ask for quarters, nickles and dimes to put in their American one. So we do that when we find them!

I think I was about 15 when I cracked mine up. I rolled up all the change and put it in my bank account. There was over $75 I believe in just pennies, quarters and dimes!

There is a simlair post on this very topic

Piggy Banks

I didn't have one growing up...It set the trend of my not saving at a very early age, HOWEVER through lots of determination and hard work, I have broken that bad habit and am teaching my kids to save THEY do have piggy banks, of the glass variety that will NOT be broken until they can't stuff another coin or dollar in.

I didn't have one growing up...

My kids have glass piggy banks that do need to be broken to be 'opened'...they don't put any money in them though, because they don't want to break them.

My kids keep their money in little lockboxes or their wallets.
