This idea may have been posted elsewhere, or some of you already do this. For kids snack/lunch instead of buying the prepackaged applesauce, pudding, fruit cups, etc. I purchased a box of the 8 mini round Gladware 1/2 cup containers and they are perfect sizes to use for lunchboxes. I buy a jar of applesauce, or the canned fruit cocktail, etc. They are also great for putting some ranch dressing in to eat with some sliced cucumbers, carrot sticks or whatever your kids prefer. I'm sure you can think of other tasty treats to put in these containers for your own children.

Make sure to practice with your child opening and closing the containers at home. My son had a lot of trouble with different containers and was spending 1/2 the lunch time trying to get TO his food! We finally got the smallest lock-n-lock containers and he can open and close those with no problem. Much much cheaper though to package your own serving sizes than buy prepackaged.

That's good advice! i don't use those anymore for the same reason. I just use small thermoses and zip lock bags because the kids have trouble opening things and the teacher may be too busy to help.

Boy am I in the dark ages! LOL I still buy the prepackaged items, applesauce and yogurt, my kids don't care for pudding or jello. But I buy huge cans of fruit and put those in the little tupperware containers I have. That seems to work out well enough. I also buy the snack size bags of crackers for them to take as well. This is also handy with Soccor all day every saturday to pack them some quick snacks to eat at the soccor field.

I do just that. I also use them to put ketchup in when packing chicken nuggets for his lunch.

Now that my kids are older, I also use those little bowls with lids - the throw away kind, but I never throw them away.

I had brought these Glad containers long time ago when I had a coupon for it, and it had been sitting in the garage for the longest time. I took them out over the weekend, and sent celery and dressing (used the glad container) for DS's snack.
