Yes, in a heartbeat. I have earned more and lived better, but I have also earned less and know the stress of not knowing the future. I am happy with a simple lifestyle, very happy. Much happier than when I lived bigger.

Nope.

I wonder how many would change their answer if it were bumped up to $100,000.

I think I am looking at this diffrently, Now DH alone makes 62,000 but he works ALOT of hours and his take home pay after taxes, health insurance cont, and retirement cont and savings he brings home less than 50,000 a year to live off of.

If we got this money no questions asked every year then I WOULD DO IT because then DH would not have to work and neither would I!! Where I live this is enough to live comfortably on, DH would be home all the time with me and our future children, and we would not have to pay into retirement becuase we would get this for the rest of our life, we also would be more lenient about savings, not have one at all but at least lessen what we put in.

Think about the TIME* you could have with your kids, spouse, church activities, vacations, ahhh to dream!!

I would take it. Up until recently our family of 7 has lived on half that. We just made sure we never went into debt and with the exception of our house and travel trailer everything we ever buy is paid for in cash.

I think my main problem with this (besides not being enough) is the stipulation that you can never earn anything. I like knowing that if things get tough, or we have a major expense, one of us can take a second or third job to make up the needed money. Not having that option really scares me.

I know I would. Right now the number is less than what DH makes a year, but 100k would be great for us; especially with not having to save for retirement.

For $100,000 we probably would too!! As long as we could keep our health insurance.

Nope. Not for that amount either. If it were $150,000 I might be tempted. I agree with Happymom. Part of it is knowing you would never work even if you needed to work, part of it is that there is a certain satisfaction in providing for your family. If we didn't work, yes, we would spend a lot of time together, but we do that pretty well now. Sometimes you can have too much time on your hands and that is what would happen, I think. I think it would harm our marriage and family to have 24/7 together time. JMO
