i was just curious....we are in the process of buying a home & the bank lady says we'll fly through underwriting....what exactly is underwriting??

This is our 4th home, and we never have had credit issues or anything. I am guessing it has something do being a good credit risk maybe??

I am not in banking but come from insurance where underwriting is examining the applicant's details to determine risk. I gather it is the same here and that she meant you wouldn't have any trouble qualifying.

Not meaning this in a critical way but . . . you should have asked the bank lady what it was. Don't get into a loan without knowing everything about it. If they throw out terms you're not familiar with, ask what they mean. Otherwise, you never know what they'll try and pull over on you.
