I think you should let your DH make his own amount to spend and give it to him in cash. When it is gone it is gone. I think someone who has his "need" to spend should be given more than $15 or you are setting him up to fail. I would give him NO more than $50 and this is probably less than he was spending anyway. This will allow him to not feel stressed about the budget and say forget it. And after a few weeks of watching the debt go away he might feel like joining you on the bandwagon.

You are going to have to get serious too. This means eating out should be paid in cash and maybe you could plan on having potluck or a dinner at your home, or picking a much cheaper place to eat. There are many ways to make this work but you BOTH have to get on board.

Our big issue is that we don't have extra to put toward debt. Still what I have been doing is making as big a payment as we can and I am considering extra little payments with every paycheck. My theory is that is we don't have the money in checking we will won't be buying stuff we don't need.
