I agree and don't see the reason to get a new car/truck at all. We have four kids and only one vehicle that fits all of them and therefore all of us and we've not missed out by not having another vehicle that would fit us all. If you simply want a new vehicle, get one but I wouldn't just because you think you need to. Make sense?

I agree with the others that you don't need both vehicles to hold all of you. While dh's car could hold all of us, we just never switch the seats and always take my SUV.

If you do get new vehicle, the only way to know if the carseats will fit is to actually test them in the car. A pain for sure, but the only way to be positive.

we only have one car that fits all of us - my hubby drives a truck (single cab) I have a mazda 5 and 3 carseats and i love it!!!! It is a small car, but has 3 rows of seats. this way, they are not all on top of each other!! it has great gas mileage!

When I had my youngest, I still had three 'big kids' living at home. We had a van that we all fit in, but my 'regular' car and hubby's work truck wouldn't hold us all. We just used the van if we had to all go to the same place,, but usually, it was the just part of us or only hubby going to work. I never saw a reason for us all to fit in 'every' vehicle.

Good luck and congrats!

We also have a mini van that is used to carry all of us and for trips, and my husband's car which he only drives and can carry one or two kids with him when necessary. We have never had a problem of not having the right vehicle for the number of people. We have 2 kids in the 5 point harness car seats and 1 in a booster seat. We also have an extra car seat for my husbands car for when he needs to carry one and the booster seat is easily switchable between cars. We have had this set up for two years (since my youngest was born) and its been working great.
We also have friends that have a minivan and car for 3 kids in carseats, and it works for them.

You can fit three car seats in an extended cab. It's even better if you get one with all four doors so you don't have to scoot the front seat forward.

My friend has a 2005 ford focus and she can fit three of the cosco scenera Cosco - Scenera 5-Point Convertible Car Seat, Checkmate - Wal-Mart in her back seat.

Thanks so much for the information. I checked out my dad's truck this weekend and all three carseats would definately fit in a dodge ram. I just keep having flashbacks to when my husband had a single cab truck. Anytime we took the van in to get serviced it was a big ordeal. We either had to find someone to pick him up from the dealership or find someone to watch the kids. We bought the car b/c it would fit all of us and was great on gas mileage but since we've bought the house we're finding that we need a truck quite a bit. I would just love to have something that was functional and still fit all of us. I realize many people live just fine with just one car that fits everyone but I like having the other car to fall back on if something happens.

I have had a Toyota Sequioa 3 rolls and it fit my boys from 3 car seats to booster and car seat to eldest in the back or eldest in 2nd roll(13) next tohis brother who is in a booster/carseat(7) and his other brother (9) in just a booster.
It's tough now with the gas going up but we cut back on things that required much driving here and there and I wouldn't trade my truck for nothing.
they are so safe too!!!!

Good luck! We found ourselves in the same situation. I have a 3 y.o., a 1.5 y.o. and #3 (surprise!) due in August. I drive a Hyundai Santa Fe - and 3 carseats will NOT fit in the back seat of that one. My dh has a Chevy Lumina - and they might fit in there - we've not tried his yet. The only problem with that is his car is not trustworthy for trips - even to visit my family who's 2.5-3 hours away. I'm not sure at this point what we're going to do...
