I know I've seen them somewhere but I thought they were pricey. I'm looking for quart jars to make cookie mixes in for gifts and I just don't have a clue where to get some inexpensive jars.

TIA

Try putting a post on freecycling, maybe you can get them free.

Also Salvation Army/Goodwill often have them. Definitely post on freecycle, maybe the "wanted" on craigslist. Also, if you buy pasta sauce- Classico comes in Ball or Mason jars - maybe ask family/neighbors if you can have theirs. They'd probably be happy to not have to throw them out!!

Thanks. I didn't think of the pasta sauce jars. We never buy them, but I'll be some of the mothers in the moms groups do

I went to a garage sale in my neighborhood and bought a box of rings and the woman asked if I canned and when I said yes she asked if I wanted some jars. Three days later she brought over probably 150 jars. Ask around to older people they don't can anymore and are more than happy to get rid of the jars that just take up space.

Unfortunately, we haven't spoken to any of our neighbors around here (they all give us really mean looks when they see us and the kids have harassed dd at the bus stop) and I haven't seen any older people. I did post to freecycle and one of the women from my girl scout troop actually called me and said her mil had a bunch in the attic. She's going to see if I can have them and I also gave her some ideas for gifts so it could be a win/win situation for both of us

I got 12 pint jars for $6.20 from Walmart - with rings and lids
I think the quart ones are around $7.50 for 12 with rings and lids - but I could be off

Mine were on the isle with the kitchen gagets (spatulas. etc)

That's not unreasonable. I'm going to see what I can acquire for free and then if I need more I'll head to walmart. I'm trying to keep costs down as much as possible this year I just found soup in a jar recipes as well. I never knew you could do so much
