I handle paying all the bills. The monies get deposited together and paid from that total. We each get an "Allowance" for the week, and from that is the extra milk or bread, vending machine stuff (DH last minute purchase at work), or anything else that comes up during the week. If there is any left over, it goe into a "Fun" jar, and once in a while we just use the money from that jar to do something special as a family that there normally would have been no money to do. We discuss any purchases other than monthly bills (gas/groceries etc.) to see if it is a want or a need item. He is aware weekly of how much is in the bank, whats been paid or pending, and how much extra has been paid to reduce our credit card debt.
He fully admits that he would not want to be in charge of paying the bills and sticking to the budget because he still can't figure out how everything gets paid, and we have retirement funds, savings accounts and take a nice vacation every year.
Huh, guess he does appreciate my frugalness!

We both make the money and I pay all the bills, but he is aware of them. There is times when he asks me were is all the money, I then have to say the amounts of the bills. When I get stressed about the amount going out and the amount coming in I get on his case. Like just before we went on our cruise he wanted the cc paid off so I did it but now we have no money for all the other bills that are coming in like football tickets, meat, taxes, increase in gas, car tires, truck having problems with the oil pan and trans leaking. Now I don't know were the money is going to come from. Taxes due April 15 $850.00 and no money in the bank.

Okay lets change the subject or I will start to scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, I am in charge of this, too.

I do most of it. I write checks, drop off the mortgage payment, buy the household things. However, DH saves money without me knowing. He takes extra out every time he goes to the bank or atm, and then when I say, "Man I am low on money"... or "Oh no, we need oil!" he usually has a few hundred saved up, aside from the regular savings.

Me! as i am divorced...and I love it.
that was one of the things when i was married, he wanted to pay the bills, etc...but it never worked out, we were always out of money, but, he wouldn't let me do it.
that why im divorced!
and now, even thought he makes way more money than me,
I have a lot more saved up, a lot less debt!
i love having control of my money...
if i ever get remarried,
i would have to continue to have control of the finances.
I do a great job at it...but i would fill in my spouse about it.
Its hard because both people have to be on the same page.
My ex never say the point in savings...???
i would have to find someone that believes in saving for a rainy day, and enoying life regardless of money...
a walk down the beach...is FREE!

My DH pays the bills, has the retirement account coming out of his check, and he funds the saving account.

I do the taxes, buy the groceries and house hold items, shop around for the best deals. I bought our last car on the internet I shopped for two months on-line and found a great deal, we went to see it and bought it after a test drive.

I guess we do it together I know who we owe and how much but I don't have to do the paperwork. I know how but my DH says it is his job I have enough on my plate.

I am. DH & I do discuss our expenses and future expenditures. Sometimes, it takes a while for "we need to cut back" to really sink in though.
