OMG, I don't know where the extra money will come from the next 2 months. We've got a going away party for a son joining the Navy, 4 birthday parties, and 2 communions...all within weeks of each other.

I come from a big family so we only celebrate baby's 1st birthdays together (otherwise, we'd all be broke with no free weekend!!) So, there are 2 of those, plus my dh and ds are a week apart from each other in April. I knew the bds were coming, but not the other things. *whew* This is gonna be tough.

Anyone else bombarded with special occasions? Graduations? Confirmations? Weddings this time of year?

For those kinds of ocassions, this is actually a slow time of year for us. There were 2 birthdays this month and none that I need a gift for next month. Mothers Day will be a bit expensive, and there is one other Birthday in May. Things will be very busy in the summer. I have a few weddings coming up in the summer. One Graduation in June. Lot's of birthdays in the summer.

June and July hit us hard Niece, Sister, Fathersday, 4th of July, Dads B-day, My B-day, Parents annaversary Moms Birthday, and we start august with back to back family reunions.

DDs and Nephews B-days are in april but thats about it. I like having it busy in the summer its a kind of offset to the winter holidays.

This is actually our easiest time of year from end of March through the summer. All our bdays are over, Christmas is over, not really any holidays or bdays to buy for. Now Fall-March we have tons of holidays and bdays to buy for, but I buy all year long.

We're entering what we fondly refer to as birthday season. Between the end of March and the beginning of August, we have 21 birthdays. During some weeks in June and July, we have at least one birthday a week. For the first time this year, I'm cutting back a little bit on the birthday budget for our nephews. That alone is usually around $200 per "season". Fingers crossed that we don't get invited to very many confirmations, graduations, etc. LOL! ETA: I forgot about Mother's Day and Father's Day.

this is the best time for us. the winter was HARD. we live in the northeast-in a hard to heat house... heating the house is costing us $400.00 a month alone. So now that it's going to warm up, times will be better.

It is birthday season here too. I try to budget for it all year so it doesn't hit me as hard.

For Mothers day we get together and have a picnic in the park. I always get my SIL's and MIL a nice potted flower and a picture of the kids. It has become a tradition and they expect it.

For fathers day I make a cake and we have a picnic with my DH's family. It helps keep the cost down.

I try to visit my family but if it doesn't happen they get a phone call.
