Heck I hear for my generation (20s) we will need 2 million. So that's what we are shooting for.

I think there is really no way to say you will need a specific amount. My goal is to save as much as I comfortably can. You never know if you will live to 60 or to 100. With the cost of medical bills and taxes, everything could change. I figure I will at least need what I am making now so my house hold annual salary is about $50k I hope to at least live to 80 so thats a million right there. There is also the option of reverse mortgages and annuities. The ideal goal would be to live off the interest but whos to say where the market will be at in 50 years.

I hope not!!! Of course there is absolutely NO WAY we can retire at age 65!! That is only 20 years away and I still have lots of little kids!
