We received a promotion from our cable company that we could add digital phone and internet for $44. Right now we have a different provider for that and they charge $65 for the two. I called to see if they could match that and they did for $40. So I lowered our phone/internet for $25 a month. I also found a garbage company that charged $14 a month and our current charged $25, so I called our current company and they lowered it to the $14!
I never thought of doing that until I started hearing of more and more people getting it lowered. Every little bit helps!!

Good deal, we are in the process of looking for cheaper house and auto and we finally found one that will save us over $700.00 a year for the both. Yes, I said $700.00 that is a heck of a savings!!! We normally had good insurance until we added our new teenage driver and auto went through the roof along with my DH when he saw what they were going to charge us!

Update: I just went and picked up our new combined insurance quote and it is going to save us over $940.00, now I am really doing the happy dance!!!!!

Yes, it is amazing how much you can save if you ask. We have a credit card (paying it down- hallelujah!) interest rate at 3.99% APR for 9 billing cycles. It was originally at like 12%. This cuts a lot off the monthly bill which will help to put more money on the principal and pay this thing down. I will keep calling them to get the most competitive rate until it is gone!

Isn't it awesome when that happens. We get our cable/internet/phone through the cable co. I have to call back every year but it's worth it! Right now we're paying $116/mo for high speed internet, unlimited phone, and digital cable with all the premium channels. Exciting stuff for me. heehee

On another note...definitely call your credit card companies. I have one I'm trying to pay off. I called them the other day and told them my other credit card (zero balance) offered me 0% interest for 6 mo. I didn't want to transfer b/c it was bank of america and I'm not thrilled with them. Anyway, I asked if I could just get 3 or 4 months interest free. They offered to treat my balance as a transfer with 0% for 3 months and then it would go up to 5% for the life of the balance. I was thrilled. Do you know how much interest that will save? I love when companies work with you. I never thought of calling the garbage company though...I might do that too...ours is getting pricey.

That is fantastic.

I love it when things like that work out. I am trying to shop my insurance right now -- my auto will go down by $150 a year and I am hoping to save at least as much on the home.
