Are you happy with the amount of money you currently have saved?

I fully admit I was financially irresponsible up until a few years ago (DH and didn't even open our first savings accounts until a few years ago). We are slowly building up our savings and I have separate accounts for things like property taxes, Christmas and an emergency fund.

I don't know if anyone is ever truly happy with what they currently have (Doesn't everyone have the "well, I wish it were more" thought, at one time or another, just to feel more secure about it)? But overall I am happy even just having a savings account, even if it is a small amount

Overall in the "non-touchable, have to be practically dead to get it" savings I am very comfortable (Dh's stock, 401K, etc...).

Day to day savings ~ not so much. I was actually feeling quite good about what we had, where we were going, etc....but then the water heater & the water softner broke within 2 weeks of each other ~ so that depleted that. Now we are starting from square one again.

I am comfortable with the fact that we ARE saving. We also used to be very irresponsible with $$. Any is better than nothing in my book.

I am not happy with the amount we have saved but we are working on it. Last year dh was hurt at work. We finally recovered from all the bills we owed. Now I am fixing his credit and next we are going to put more money away.

Well, not anymore. We had to use some of what we had for what seemed like one emergency after another and most of it's gone and I really don't have anything "physical" to show for it, but our bills got paid and our car fixed and 2 of our animals got sick within 6 months of each other and I opted for treatment.

So in a nutshell. No.

Yes and no, with our everyday savings, yes, but with retirement savings, I feel that we could have more 'cause no matter how much we have in there it probably won't be enough especially with the way health care is going.

Yes, but only because it is growing and growing. Also our retirement savings is not-so-much at the moment.

Retirement saving Im ok with it but would like to contribute more We are fortunate to have employer contributions to this.

DDs Saving I am happy with it she is only 2 and so we have time. $5 a month and all Gift money go into it. We will go with something higher interest when we get more saved

Personal Savings and E-fund Very unsatisfied I want at least 10K set aside and accessable. However, I only have a tenth of that and am concentraiting more on debt then the e-fund.

not really... we had a ton in savings about 5 years ago and then we moved back to our home state when we had our oldest son and we had to use our savings to carry our house till it sold, plus we owed at the closing table. HORRIBLE deal!

Since then we've had debt forever and just recently got busy clearing it out. SO, right now we have $1000 in our emergency fund! I'm happy it's there, but that's it. We don't have any credit card debt anymore (yea!) but we're working on paying off my minivan! That should be done in September and by March or so we should have about 6 months of expenses saved up... THEN I'll be happy!

As for retirement, not much yet, but we're still young and when the debt is gone we'll be kicking that into high gear!
