At 17-my goodness only one thing! That's not fair!

I would have told myself to save money and open a Roth IRA. I know that's 2, but really they are both saving so they can count as one right!

I saved from the time I started working to this day... I was 16 when I got my first job, and I was always savings for something?? A car, school, my own place etc... I had 1 credit card that I used and paid off each month... I was pretty smart when it came to money.. When my mom passed away when I was 18 I was left to deal with her 100k in credit card debt, so I knew I did not want to get that way...

That would prevent college credit cards. That would prevent any car debt.

Debt prevents you from using your money to its fullest power!

Otherwise, I did pretty good!

I would say it is possible to go to college even if your parents refuse to help.
