Maybe some gift cards to a book store or restaurant or favorite shopping store like target. You can give 10-20 dollars.

My MIL loves to garden so we buy her a plant for her garden and a picture of the kids together. My Mom on the other hand just wants us to bring her flowers and the kids to make cookies and of course her picture of the kids.

We also buy my SIL's flowers in pots and we get together for a picnic. It is lots of fun and pretty frugal.

We got restaurant coupons $25 for $3 and used the code GOURMET. Our parents always go out to eat so we chose restaurant we know they love. The site is restaurant.com and I hope it is okay to put that in this message. If not, sorry!

That's what we do too - for both moms. They seem to like it and it's not really that expensive.

What about flowers? 1-800-Flowers.com has Fair Trade Certified roses that are really pretty. I have a promo code 10% off their eco-friendly products - ECO1. They have some really great products on this line!

DH's work was throwing out terra cotta flower pots so he brought them home. We're going to let the kids paint them and put a couple of cheap plants in them for MIL.

My DS (almost 5 years old) wants to make his grandmothers something. The other day he collected a few big rocks and now he wants to paint them. I thought that might be a cute gift for them. I could put a piece of felt on the bottom and they could use them as paper weights. Or they could place them in their garden (after I put a clear coat on them). They're coming over for Mother's Day for dinner, and I might also get them some flowers. That's it. My mom and MIL are cheap dates!
